David Thorne works as a fisheries biologist for the Wildlife Diversity Unit of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources in Elkins. He holds B. S. (1989) and M. S. (2004) degrees in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from West Virginia University. His areas of interest and specialty are in small stream ecology, stream and river habitat restoration, fish community dynamics, and brook trout life history. Current projects include a statewide stream fish community classification for both wadeable and non-wadeable streams and assessment and monitoring of fish communities and rare fishes. He has previously served as president of the Allegheny Highlands Chapter of Trout Unlimited (1999-2000) and as a board member of the Friends of Deckers Creek (2003-2005).
